OSHA Learning Objectives:

  • Summarize the potential risk of transmission of Hepatitis A,B,C, HIV, Flu and Tuberculosis
  • Explain and describe the importance of the Exposure Control Plan
  • Discuss types of personal protective equipment (PPE), work practices and engineering controls that reduce the risk of exposure
  • Describe the employers’ responsibilities for protecting staff from bloodborne pathogens or other potentially infectious material
  • Describe employer and employee responsibilities when exposed to a bloodborne pathogen or other potentially infectious material

HIPAA Learning Objectives:

  • Overview of the HIPAA Simplification Rule or Privacy Rule
  • Explain the four core components of the Simplification Rule
  • Understand the requirements of the federal HIPAA and HITECH regulations
  • Understand Oregon’s Privacy Laws
  • Explain how the Privacy Laws apply to you and your role
  • Describe the consequences and penalties for violating HIPAA regulations
